Mayan Riviera

A long the East coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, a few kilometers south of Cancun and in the heart of the Mexican Caribbean, is the Riviera Maya, a land with an abundance of flora and fauna, long stretches of solitary beaches and fascinating ecological parks and archeological sites for exploring.

In 1997, the Riviera Maya was introduced worldwide as a perfect alternative for the traveler eager to explore beyond hotel room. This incredibly beautiful destination has become the ideal spot for two rapidly growing tourist sectors; cultural tourism and adventure tourism. Visitors searching to increase their knowledge and experience, will find that this spot brings together many aspects which are difficult to encounter in any one place on the planet.

The most beautiful beaches of the Mexican Caribbean, a unique and incredibly complex system of underground rivers with cenotes (sink holes), thousand of acres of exuberant tropical forest, and the second largest coral reef in the world are part of the Riviera Maya.

Additionally, it boasts two world famous eco-archeological sites which offer a great variety of activities and services within an infrastructure capable of safely receiving hundreds of tourists.

The Riviera Maya is made up of a large number of individual destinations, each with its unique attraction and charm: Playa Paraiso, Playa del Secreto, Punta Maroma, Punta Bete, Xcalacoco, Playa del Carmen, Xcaret, Calica, Paamul, Puerto Aventuras, Xpu-há, Kantenah, Akumal, Chemuyil, Xcacel, Xel-há, Tulum, Cobá, Boca Paila and Punta Allen.

Not too long ago, the entire eastern flank of the Yucatan Peninsula was virgin beach, long stretches of white sand overlooked by nothing more ambitious than a coconut palm. Today progress has touched the Maya Riviera (or tourist corridor) as the 100 miles from Cancun to Tulum is now being called.

Thankfully, development has been of an enlightened sort, and if sections of that coast have been altered by the addition of services, its spectacular, inimitable beauty has suffered little.

For most of us, 'paradise on earth' includes some combination of sand, surf and sun, and the Riviera Maya, with its talcum powder beaches and turquoise sea suits most visions.

Join us for a tour of the coast, and see if we haven't located your personal Dream Beach.
