Originally from the time of the “green gold” (around
the end of 1800), haciendas were born and made a living from the henequén
bonanza. By mid 1940, when synthetic fibers were created, the henequén industry
plummeted and with it, the splendor of haciendas.
In the last decade of the XX century, the haciendas
of Yucatan recovered economic growth and splendor, this time as spots of perfect
harmony for relaxation, reflection, and meditation; but mostly to offer unique
experiences to the visitors of Yucatan.
In other times, machinery houses, today restaurants
serving contemporary Yucatan cuisine; before, stables and farmyards, now, pools
and spas; stately ranches of old, today real estate of peculiar charm from
Yucatan to the world.
